7-time world champion ready to face the ‘challenging’ Spa circuit

The British driver has won the Belgian Grand Prix four times previously in his career, including last year’s race. He mentioned it is always nice to come back to one of the original tracks of the sport.

“A route for real men. The only comparison that comes to mind is the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife. It is very special to come here every year. Today, racetracks of this caliber are simply no longer built.” said Hamilton.

“So many great stories have been written here, but above all, the track is ultra-fast, and I think that’s the biggest reason why most drivers love this track. In addition, this is one of the few tracks on which overtaking with the current cars is not as difficult as usual.

“It’s very difficult. Because on the straights you need as little air resistance as possible to achieve high top speed, but in the middle section of the track you need downforce to be quick in the corners. It’s really not easy to find the right compromise here.” said Lewis on the challenge of the track.
