If one had to choose between Max Verstappen or Charles Leclerc, it would be a difficult choice, all things considered. But if you are the former team principal of Renault, Flavio Briatore, the choice is clear as day in Max Verstappen. And we wouldn’t blame him. Max is already a world champion, is an excellent driver and shows all the signs you look for in a driver. Although, Flavio admitted he would get both the drivers, provided he had the money to do so.

Flavio was full of praises while speaking about his choice to SoyMotor.com, “I would take Verstappen, he is the best driver in Formula 1 and we saw him last year. He has more experience, he fought for a championship and he is the champion. However, if I had the money, I would sign both of them,”
Max has already won a race in the 2022 season with Red Bull and according to Flavio “The race in Saudi Arabia, one of the most beautiful in recent times”.

Flavio also shared his thoughts on this year’s championship and said, “Ferrari has a competitive car, which will be competitive throughout the year. So anything can happen, the important thing is that the car works. If they play it to the end and hopefully win it, it will depend a lot on the drivers and the strategies.”
Having said that, he did not rule out Mercedes from putting up a fight and bouncing back from the Saudi Arabian GP.

Ferrari, on the other hand, is putting up an excellent showing if the first two races are anything to go by. Charles Leclerc is leading the drivers’ leaderboard, followed by teammate Carlos Sainz and Ferrari is on top of the constructors’ championship table.
Even though Flavio Briatore has made up his mind, we still have a long way to go in this new season. And hopefully, a lot of excitement ahead of us is still to unfold in the 2022 season.
