Nevertheless, he knows one way Renault can silence the unions, he said, ” If during the management meeting, Renault presents its economy plan by insisting on the group’s desire to relaunch and promote their brand, to produce electric models and the need to have a new brand ambassador in the person of Alonso. It may be easier to get accepted.”

However, that may be easier said than done. Unions backed by 15000 angry workers may prove difficult to silence. It could potentially lead to scrapping the plan to sign Alonso.

On the other hand, if they can successfully integrate workers into other businesses that would be a massive victory for them. Not only would it allow them to sign Alonso but also allow them to receive a $5.56 million loan from the State. That loan will be crucial in deciding their fate in F1.

However, for the time being, they are safe (in F1 at least). Renault’s CEO said that they will continue to remain in the F1 business. That’ll go some way in bringing reassurance for Renault fans. Moreover, Fans of Renault will be hoping that Ricciardo can get them a podium before he leaves for McLaren.
