Ferrari bounced back in 2021 after having a disastrous season last year. In 2020, the team finished in sixth place in the constructors’ standings with 131 points. This season, they truly redeemed themselves as they achieved a third-place finish in the teams’ standings with 323.5 points.
However, for the upcoming season former Ferrari engineer, Luigi Mazzola, has set the bar higher for the Marenell0-based team. Mazzola acknowledges the progress made by the team this year but states that they should win races in 2022.

Ex-Ferrari engineer has higher expectations from the team in 2022
The Italian team certainly bounced back in 2021, after having a disappointing in 2020. Mazzola, who worked with the team during the era dominated by Michael Schumacher, has stated that the progress made by the team is good, but they should aim higher in 2022.
Mazzola said, “The third place in 2021 can also be positive, given the previous year. There have been improvements. The goal, that is to be the first of the others, behind Mercedes and Red Bull, has been achieved.”
“Now, however, given everything that has been said about 2021 and that all the technical efforts have been put into 2022, I expect a competitive Ferrari. And I wouldn’t be satisfied with winning a few races. For the mentality of a Ferrari and a racer, I would like to hear people say ‘I want to compete to win the world championship’.

Then we will see what happens. The difference will be made by the management of the car on the track, I am referring to the mechanical and aerodynamic adjustments, to the use of the tires. With few tests available, some will arrive sooner, others later: and there may be some surprises. But Ferrari must be ready. It’s time, isn’t it?” he concluded.
