David Coulthard has recently talked about Max Verstappen. Coulthard has hailed the defending F1 champion as one of the greatest in the game. Verstappen has been receiving many accolades and praises since he won the championship last year. And this might be a great addition to them.

David Coulthard is a former Red Bull Racing driver. The British international said that the Dutchman has shown enough talent to be hailed as one of the best in F1. And his recent Championship win at Abu Dhabi just added to that.

Talking about Max, the driver-turned-commentator conveyed, “All F1 drivers are good, just like all Premier League footballers are good. But it’s about finding the guys who are exceptional. He already is. Really.”

Verstappen won the 2021 championship at the very last race of the season. The massive title came by defeating Lewis Hamilton on the last lap. The much controversial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be remembered by the Dutchman for a long, long time.

In regard to Max’s caliber, the former McLaren driver further stated, “Lewis is a fantastic driver and deserved to win that race, but I also think Max deserved the title because of his fighting spirit. He managed to get inside Lewis’ head and Lewis knew he had to leave the room. No other driver has that effect on Lewis. That makes him a worthy champion in my eyes.”

With a title in hand, what’s next for Max Verstappen?

As the new season dawns, Max Verstappen will look forward to defending his title. Winning the title might have been hard, however, defending the title would be harder.
