Ferrari gave away a great start to the 2022 season, with bad strategy calls and some glaring mistakes. That cost them and Charles Leclerc dearly as Red Bull and Max Verstappen practically ran away with both championships. Resultantly, Mattia Binotto resigned from his job and now Frederic Vasseur will have to practice authority to make the necessary corrections. To make sure it all translates into results, the first thing he will have to do, according to a former racer and F1 pundit, is change the attitude of people around him. Something along the lines of what Leclerc did after crashing at the French GP.

As Ferrari won two races from the first three fixtures, the Tifosi got their hopes high. It looked like the team had finally come together and delivered a car that was worthy of winning championships. That, however, was not to be as many races for the Prancing Horse turned out to be big disappointments, owing to bad pit stops or strategic planning. According to Johnny Herbert, however, Vasseur could overcome the glaring issue.

In a recent interview with Total-Motorsport, Johnny said, “They never seemed to accept their mistakes. Someone like Fred I hope can come in there and, if there is a mistake, they can deal with it in a proper way.”

“Sometimes you have to accept it and that is where there has to be a little bit of change. That will only help morale in the team to really make sure everyone is doing the job they are expected to do.”

While Herbert has given his two cents on how the Maranello-based team can change its fate, another expert believes they are in no shape to compete against Red Bull’s golden boy Max Verstappen.

Charles Leclerc touted to fail against the might of Max Verstappen

What the partnership between Red Bull and Verstappen put up last season is something F1 fans had never seen before. The Austrian team won 17 races, out of which the Dutchman delivered 15. The feat puts him in a class apart, one that even Leclerc cannot match, according to 7-time Grand Prix winner Juan Pablo Montoya.

In a recent interview with Motorsport, Montoya told, “I don’t think Charles is on the same level. I think Charles is a very good driver, but Max has more experience. Max has also won more races and has already won a few championships, so there is much less pressure on it. That makes it a lot easier for Max to become world champion than for Charles, who is still going for his first title.”
