The 2022 season of Formula 1 has been enticing, to say the least. With 5 races completed, we have witnessed some nail-biting action on the track and glamor off it. With the party week in Miami all but completed, Formula 1 now moves back to Europe for the Spanish GP.

While the other teams have been busy trying to catch up, both Red Bull and Ferrari have been focusing on one thing – putting as much distance between themselves and the rest of the field. The fight for the championship is intensifying, and this week is huge for the championship contenders.

Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz will receive a grand welcome from their country. With the Grand Prix nearing, Formula 1 has released the schedule and timings of the race.

Spanish GP timings

The race week will kick off on Friday with two free practice sessions. The first practice starts at 14:00 local time while the second one starts at 17:00. Teams will look to gather data on Friday ahead of the crucial qualifying and race.

FRIDAY – Practice One: 14:00 local time, 08:00 ET

FRIDAY – Practice Two: 17:00 local time, 11:00 ET

SATURDAY – Practice Three: 13:00 local time, 07:00 ET

SATURDAY – Qualifying: 16:00 local time, 10:00 ET

SUNDAY – Grand Prix:15:00 local time, 09:00 ET

The fans can witness the qualifying on Saturday, and the race on Sunday at 18:30 IST, 22:00 JST, 15:00 CEST and 14:00 BST.

The driver media activity starts on Friday at 10:30 local time, followed by the FP 1 session at 14:00. Saturday will see team press conferences from 10:30 until 11:30 local time. The FP3 session and qualifying follow it.

The drivers will also have to attend the post-qualifying press conference at 17:00 local time. On Sunday, fans can witness the driver’s parade at 13:00 local time followed by the all-important Grand Prix at 15:00 local time.

Max Verstappen v Charles Leclerc again in the Spanish GP?

Verstappen and Leclerc have been in a league of their own. While the Dutchman suffered from reliability issues in the early part of the season, he has bounced back in style. Meanwhile, Leclerc’s Ferrari has been struggling to match Red Bull’s straight-line pace. As a result, the gap is now narrowed down to 19 points between the two.

The Spanish GP will also see the homecoming of Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz. Both have had unfortunate luck in recent weeks. However, with the home crowd behind them, they will hope to get a positive result.
