With both the drivers’ and the constructors’ championships done and dusted, one would have expected the Brazilian GP to be a dull affair. However, it has been anything but that. We saw Daniel Ricciardo crash in the race’s first lap, bringing out the safety car relatively early.

This has been followed up by a crash involving Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris. We saw the duo going at it hammer and tongs after the safety car. However, it didn’t end well for Charles Leclerc as he was spun out by McLaren’s wonder boy. After the investigation, FIA decided to give Lando a 5-second penalty.

This is bad for Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver is currently P3 in the championship, 6 points behind Red Bull’s Sergio Perez. Leclerc might have lost out to world champion Max Verstappen, but he would want to finish ahead of Checo.

Norris’ penalty will also dent McLaren’s chances of finishing ahead of Alpine in the constructors’ championship. Having one car out of the race in the early exchanges, McLaren’s CEO, Zak Brown, would have wanted Lando to finish as high as possible.

But, one’s heart has to go out to Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver has threatened to emerge as a title contender, but something or the other has pulled him back. This even led Leclerc to leave an explicit message for Lando on his radio.

If there was good about this crash, it was that he was able to continue in the race. If he climbs through the field, it will allow him to prevent Sergio Perez from sealing P2 in the championship.
