It’s only been a day since the Hungarian GP concluded, and we are still comprehending a thrilling race. However, in this fast-paced sport, Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso wasted no time in stealing the headlines. The F1 superstar jumps ship from Alpine and commits to wearing the green racing suit in 2023.
The recent retirement announcement of Sebastian Vettel left a seat up for grabs at the Silverstone outfit. The Spaniard’s contract concludes with the French constructor in 2022 and instead of extending the partnership, he joins forces with Lance Stroll to help his new crew take steps towards success.

Presently, Stroll and Alonso are rivals representing different constructors. However, the future teammates go way back and had their first taste of going wheel to wheel in 2010. The Canadian racing driver was part of the Ferrari racing academy, while the 41-year-old was the star driver of the Italian giants.
In 2010, Scuderia Ferrari organized a kart race for the whole team and featured the Maranello staff. Remarkably, Stroll finished P2 at the mere age of 11, ahead of the other Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa. He could not beat his new teammate that day but stunned everyone by defeating a top F1 driver.

In 2021, the team rebranded from the Racing Point to the Aston Martin, following the investment from Lawrence Stroll. Presently, it is pushing flat out on a new factory base and has signed Mike Krack as the new team principal.
The two-time F1 world champion brings years of experience with him, which can help them move in the right direction. Meanwhile, Stroll remains a nimble talent but has not made the most of his opportunities. The new face on the team can majorly help him improve on his weaknesses and hone his skill set.
The new partnership motivates Alonso as he said “I have known Lawrence [owner] and Lance [driver] for many years and it is very obvious that they have the ambition and passion to succeed in Formula One.”
