At last, George Russell is finally, truly in Mercedes colors. After making his move from the back of the grid at Williams, the Briton is set to compete at the top, with the very best at the Silver Arrows.
Russell’s move was announced towards the final sector of the last season. But the anticipation of it seemed to last forever. It cannot be overstated just how many Russell fans and Mercedes fans wanted the pairing of the two; finally, that dream is taking the shape of reality.
The eight-in-a-row championship constructor and Russell, who many see as a future champion, both posted a picture of what is the start of a new era.

George Russell ‘excited’ despite two fellow Britons being rivals
Despite his teammate Lewis Hamilton being a ‘veteran’ and Lando Norris being his pal, George Russell would very well know that the two of the biggest competitors he has are his own compatriots.
But this doesn’t mean he is, in any way, concerned or playing it ‘safe’. Quite the opposite.
“It’s exciting,” Russell said on the prospect of fighting his two fellow Brits for the title. He added, “Obviously, Lando has been a bit higher up the grid than me over the last three years, so hopefully we can be up there fighting together, because I’m sure also Lando wants to be fighting for victories and championships as well.”

Russell continued, “And then teaming up with Lewis is obviously incredibly exciting. I’m in a privileged position to go alongside the best ever.” “It’s an amazing opportunity to again progress myself as a driver and see how I fare,” he added.
It will be interesting indeed, to see how George Russell, the supremely talented driver, fares up against a grid ranging from experienced veterans to prospective champions.
