Lewis Hamilton will be leaving Mercedes at the end of the season, and then it’s all red for him. In Ferrari, the driver is expected to have a better chance of reaching the World Champion title. However, it has been Red Bull that has been dominating the grid since 2021, and Hamilton’s Mercedes camp has somewhat lost its mojo. This left the community wondering if Lewis Hamilton would win the title with Ferrari or not.

But the real underlying question is: will Lewis Hamilton be able to adjust to the 2025 Ferrari car? Currently, Hamilton and the car are not performing well. However, on the contrary, Mercedes’ second driver, George Russell, has been able to perform in the W15, which is comparatively difficult to drive. Recently, David Coulthard made an observation and opined on the adjustability of the W15.

David Coulthard is no stranger to Formula 1, having competed in 15 seasons, taken 13 Grand Prix victories, and finished on the podium with Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull. What is more interesting is that after his career in the sport, he decided to move towards a third-person perspective and join the British Channel 4 as a commentator. As reported by Formulapassion, the former driver has been observing Lewis Hamilton’s driving, and he has an unpopular opinion on it.

According to David Coulthard, “He [Lewis Hamilton] hasn’t adapted to the new car yet. You can see how George Russell is gradually honing the times on the lade, while it is evident how Lewis is in trouble.” Although Lewis Hamilton has over a decade of experience over George Russell, his performance in the first two rounds of 2024 has raised some questions.

Lewis Hamilton has proved to the world that he is no ordinary driver, but the community continues to wonder why he has been unable to perform in recent years. Is it because Mercedes is unhappy with him leaving, giving him a car that is not ready to take the podium, or is it something else that is stopping him from performing better?

Why is Lewis Hamilton behind George Russell in every race?

While Lewis Hamilton has not made any comment on his performance drop, there could be many factors as to why the 7-time World Champion is placed in the middle or at the back of the grid. One major speculation as to why this is the case is that Lewis Hamilton is testing out different setups for the race. This means that maybe the car was never set up according to his driving style. The reason why Mercedes would do such a thing is unknown, but that’s one of the fairest deductions from the situation.

Another reason for Hamilton’s below-average performance might be his prime days. This might raise controversy among TeamLH supporters, but it just might mean that the 7-time world champion is not at his prime, which could be another reason for him not being on the podiums of late.

The last predicted reason behind Lewis Hamilton not performing well is his interest. Maybe, after realizing that Mercedes has failed him, there is a chance that the Brit is waiting for the switch to a better-performing team, Ferrari. However, no matter what the reason is, Hamilton fans would want to see him splashing champagne on the podium. And it’s been a while.
