The greatest rivalries are built on respect. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen shared a warm moment at the Australian GP podium. neglecting any leftover toxicity. However, the voices of F1 had a different thought about it after seeing the person who allegedly started the toxicity among Hamilton and Verstappen’s fan bases. Let’s find out what they said and who asked them to “get over it.”

The 2021 Abu Dhabi GP robbery was a hard pill to swallow for Lewis Hamilton. Micheal Masi and FIA’s decision to only allow the lapped cars between Max Verstappen and Hamilton to unlap themselves and restart the race with one lap cost Lewis Hamilton his eighth world championship.

Despite being unable to comprehend what had happened, Lewis Hamilton went up to Verstappen and congratulate him like a true sportsman. The two champions never lost respect for each other, irrespective of FIA’s decision. The duo was also seen giggling and sharing a cute moment at the 2023 Australian GP podium celebrations silencing any rumors of toxicity between the two.

However, the F1 commentators Ted Kravitz and David Croft do not seem to have let go of the Abu Dhabi robbery. The two created a stir when they saw Micheal Masi in the paddock at the Australian GP as if Masi had committed an unforgivable sin. Brian Muller and his Co-host touched upon this during the Red Flag Podcast for the Australian GP.

The hosts suggested how the F1 commentators questioned the existence of Micheal Masi and portrayed it as if it was a sin for him to show his face in public. They went on to explain how Abu Dhabi was a travesty and a miscarriage of justice, but the commentating duo need to let go of it.

According to the Red Flag Podcast, the co-host of the podcast said, “Abu Dhabi was a travesty, it was a miscarriage of justice, it also was incredibly entertaining. But it’s also like, get over it, like how f***ing small is your life that this is still going on. And guess what, Lewis is ice, Lewis is gonna be alright. You know Micheal Masi has a much s**tier life than Lewis”

Abu Dhabi was a tragedy, and people can put this case to rest. The victim seems to have forgiven the assailant and has no hard feelings against Max Verstappen as well. Lewis Hamilton is now up and running and is focused on winning the elusive eighth world title. But will Hamilton be able to win that eighth title before time runs out?

Lewis Hamilton is already 38 and is not getting any younger. With limited time left, he must get at least a competitive car to challenge for the championship. However, Mercedes is far off Red Bull’s pace and the W14 is no match for the RB19. Naomi Schiff believes Red Bull’s pace and Mercedes’ lack of it confirms it will be difficult for Lewis to challenge for the title, let alone win it.

According to Si.com, Naomi Schiff said “For him, I guess it was the moment that confirmed that really they [Mercedes] were still really much on the back foot and hadn’t made much or any progress in the winter period.” Further adding, “But for him to be in this position, is not putting him in any sort of position to get that eighth title.”
