A memorable moment in the black jumpsuit of Lotus was Senna’s maiden victory at the 1985 Portuguese GP. The legend has many iconic wins on his list: including the 1986 Spanish GP. Senna put his Lotus first on the line, just 0.014 seconds clear of Nigel Mansell’s Williams machine. The Brazilian had already been on pole position and led for a stunning 49 laps at Jerez.

Mr. Monaco‘s successes with Lotus wouldn’t be complete without a mention of the 1987 Monaco GP. Sitting at P2, Senna accompanied Mansell in the front row of the race. On Sunday, Mansell had maintained his lead for 29 laps and was forced to retire due to his Honda engine problems.
