If there is anything the Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko knows is how to get on someone’s nerves. The Austrian has done so on multiple occasions in the past with his brutal comments, especially some regarding Lewis Hamilton. The Austrian did just that with his recent comments about Mercedes’ realistic expectations in 2023. However, following the harsh comments, the fans dredged up Red Bull’s recent controversial past. Moreover, the fans also suggested the Silver Arrows take the same route for the 2023 season.

Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, Helmut revealed his honest opinion on Mercedes’s chances for the 2023 season after the Bahrain GP. The Austrian blatantly said, “The world title is out of reach for Mercedes”. He added the conceptual problems that plagued Mercedes in 2022 still persist and the team could not find a solution.

According to Marko, now, it’s too late for Mercedes to bring any significant changes owing to the budget cap as well. “You can’t design two or three vehicles. If a completely new vehicle comes now, it will be difficult because of the financial limits,” added Marko.

The irony of the Red Bull advisor’s comments is the fact Red Bull exploited those very financial limitations during the 2021 season. The Milton Keynes outfit paid the price for it as well.
