Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness. Mercedes’ shambolic display has led to rumors of Lewis Hamilton ditching the Silver Arrows for rivals. As the chances of fulfilling a long-awaited dream seem bleak for Lewis with Mercedes, Ferrari’s eyes sparkle as Lewis’s story is far from the end.

Lewis Hamilton was robbed of his record-breaking 8th World Championship at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. The Briton was expected to make a comeback for the 2022 season, but Verstappen had planned otherwise. Mercedes finished 3rd in constructors whereas Lewis Hamilton finished P6 in the drivers standing nowhere near the top whilst being 35 points behind his new teammate George Russell.

Mercedes were expected to at least close the gap to Red Bull this season, but it seems they’ve fallen further behind with Aston Martin leapfrogging them. With Mercedes unable to provide a competitive car to Hamilton for two consecutive years now, it may seem like this is the end of the road for the Brit. Regardless, Matthew Syed suggests there’s still a fight left inside the seven-time-world champion. He believes that the Briton will find a way to win his eighth title. It may very well come in the form of Lewis switching teams. There’s still a chapter in Lewis’ career that hasn’t unraveled yet.

According to thetimes.co.uk, Matthew Syed said “What seems clear, to me at least, is that Hamilton will ‘find a way’. He will rage against the dying of the light. He will agitate against the disadvantage of an underperforming car. He will continue to bet on himself against the rigours of time and mechanical underperformance, seeking out the glimmer of opportunity that he’s so often found on the track. It may manifest itself in a new design or a new team, but I don’t see this story petering out just yet.” Further adding “Indeed, I think a compelling new chapter is still to come in this remarkable journey.”

Hamilton has fallen before in his career and every time he has made a comeback with a bigger bang. The Briton continues to believe in himself and won’t accept the defeat yet. However, if Mercedes is unable to keep him happy and/or provide a competitive car, Hamilton will probably switch teams.

What are the chances of Hamilton moving to Ferrari?

In case Hamilton decides to switch teams, Ferrari seems like the only good option. Red Bull would not want to sign Hamilton alongside Max Verstappen. McLaren is nowhere near the top and Aston Martin still hasn’t established itself as a title contender. Eddie Jordan believes Hamilton will be feeling the pull of a great team like Ferrari.

According to OLBG.com, Eddie Jordan said, “Formula 1 needs Lewis Hamilton in a Ferrari and Ferrari needs Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton should look to go to another Championship-winning team, but the drama is who is going to move aside” further adding “Then again, all the great drivers would feel the pull of a great team like Ferrari, that’s where I think Hamilton should end up.”
