Nicholas Latifi suffered a rather petite crash in Abu Dhabi during the 2021 season finale, which unfortunately had an indirect effect on the result of the championship itself. Nobody saw that coming and that included the Canadian F1 driver too.
He was in the midst of a battle for position against Mick Schumacher but ran wide off the track picking up rubber. And a couple of turns later, the gripless tires led Latifi to sail into the barriers. Of course, it was an innocent mistake, and what followed was purely coincidental.

Unfortunately, to some eyes, the incident somehow looked deliberate, as the Williams driver fell into the drain of abuse. Latifi faced an insane amount of hate messages, mostly from the fans who had their bets on Lewis Hamilton winning the race.

It was indeed a shame that Latifi, who pretty much had nothing to do with the controversial result in Abu Dhabi, had to endure such opposing. Nobody realized this was happening until Latifi released the statement on his official blog a few days back.
Damon Hill voices out in support of F1 Driver Nicholas Latifi
Ever since Latifi published the massive statement reasoning his absence on social media, there have been massive support from the entire racing fraternity. It all began with Mercedes followed by Lewis Hamilton, who too, was hardly ever present on social media and only made his comeback to voice out in support of the Canadian.
Now, the latest to join the ‘Latifi support’ club is the former F1 world champion, Damon Hill. The Briton took to Instagram to share his view on the unpleasant incident revolving around Latifi.

“That anyone should have to endure this abuse is disgraceful. If you are angry because you didn’t get the result you wanted, you don’t understand the point of sport. Go and get some therapy. And have a Merry Christmas,” Hill wrote in his story.
Hill knows the pain of losing a championship as he, too, endured a similar moment as Hamilton back in 1994 when he raced against Michael Schumacher for the title. The German crashed into Hill, taking both out of the final race of the season, leaving Schumacher with the crucial extra point to win the championship trophy.
Yet, he came back stronger in 1996 to win the title against the very same rival. Can Hamilton pull off a similar comeback against Max Verstappen in 2022?
