Normal service resumed in Formula 1 when Max Verstappen took his first race win in the season opener in Bahrain. However, the next three races served up one recurring surprise for the world of F1. It was Fernando Alonso standing out and standing on the podiums in each of the opening three races. The back-to-back podiums for Alonso have brought some much-needed excitement to the entire F1 community. For the Spaniard, personally, the podiums have garnered plenty of appreciation and also raised the bar of expectations. In fact, even Verstappen openly communicated his desire to see Alonso fulfill these expectations.

What expectations, you ask? It’s the expectation from Alonso to achieve a milestone that has been elusive for almost a decade now. It’s the expectation from the Spaniard to spray champagne from the top step of the podium. We are talking about Alonso’s 33rd-race win. Verstappen communicated his desire to see the resurgent two-time champion become a race winner again after the 2013 Spanish GP to the media including RancingNews365.

Verstappen said, “I think Fernando should have won already a lot more races then he has done.” He added, “I think he deserves a lot more. I would be quite happy to see him win number 33. But I also, in a way, I would like to see him win more. So we’ll see in the coming races.”

Apart from a few jokes, one fan also suggested a way Verstappen can ensure Alonso’s race win in the current campaign. Although the suggestion to swap seats for one race is highly unorthodox. However, as things stand, this is the only way we can see anyone on the grid getting the better of the Red Bull men.
