Red Bull and Max Verstappen have conquered the 2022 championship season. The Milton Keynes-based outfit did one better than last year to clinch the constructors’ title as well. Additionally, if are to believe a 22-year-old Verstappen, this attack on Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton was a long-time coming.
Verstappen, back in 2020, spoke to ‘Sky Sports’ and made his intentions clear regarding his goal in the sport. One goal, win the F1 championship! He achieved the goal in the subsequent year and repeated the feat in 2022. However, he believed in himself even before he took the fight to Hamilton in 2021.

“We’ll try to do better this year of course, we want to fight for the title,” he said to Sky Sports F1’s Natalie Pinkham in 2020. “Of course, it is very car-dependent in Formula One. Lewis is very good. He is definitely one of the best out there. He is not God, maybe God is with him, but he is not God,” he told Evening Standard
“If we start the season within two-tenths (of Mercedes), we can mount the pressure. I am looking forward to when we get that fight and if we are really close, I am pretty sure we can do better,” he concluded.
Fans all know how the subsequent years turned out as Verstappen took the fight to Mercedes and their chieftain. Not just take the fight to them, but he came out on top. If the 2021 season produced some doubt, Verstappen’s dominant display in 2022 silenced his doubters.
Now, the tables have turned and Mercedes will try to mount a challenge back to Red Bull for the coming seasons.
