After dominating the sport for 8 long years, Mercedes finally had a season where they were left struggling to adapt to the latest regulations introduced by the FIA. The car had some porpoising and overweight issues. While porpoising issues were, more or less, resolved as the season progressed towards the latter stages, the team has taken some desperate measures to tackle the weight issues this year. They wrote, “The premiere of the Mercedes W14 has not been the dream. After the presentation, they have put it to roll in the Silverstone and it has given engine problems. Virutas de Goma later reported that the issue was not a serious one. It happened because of an error in mounting the engine on the chassis. If it really is the case, Hamilton and George Russell fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Otherwise, they could be in for another very long season.
