The big news in the world of F1, at the moment, concerns Haas. The American team had announced earlier today that it had scrapped Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen from next year’s plans.
The decision wasn’t a shocking one. Rumors had been persisting about the same for a good amount of time.
Even Grosjean had hinted that his time at Haas was drawing to a close following the Eifel Grand Prix.

The Frenchman and the Dane have been with the team for five and four years, respectively. So, sacking them was a tough decision, and understandably, the duo wasn’t happy.
Haas team principal, Guenther Steiner said, “It’s always difficult to do these things. But in the end, I need to look after the team in general and they were both very understanding.
“For sure they were not happy. I mean, who would be. But they had a good understanding and they know that we gave them a good run at it as well.”
Grosjean and Magnussen haven’t had great success with the American team. Their best season came in 2018, when Haas finished 5th in the Constructors’ Championship with 93 points.
Grosjean and Magnussen ended that campaign with 37 and 56 points, respectively. However, any hopes of bettering that season soon faded.
Instead of improving, Haas regressed, earning 28 points last season and only 3 so far in 2020.

Steiner said, “We came to one conclusion, that we reached a peak with our drivers. And It’s a little bit of our own fault, the last two years we didn’t give them a good machine, a good car to get the best out of it.
However, he added, “There is no bad blood running between us and we want to get to the end of the season. Hopefully, we can score a few points as well.”

Can the departing duo end their chapter with Haas on a high note? We’ll find out in 3 days’ time.
