Michael has applied to the FIA to field a new F1 team starting in 2024. His entry, Andretti Global, has the resources and checks every box. He is awaiting the FIA's determination.

To run an F1 team, one has to have deep pockets. Such pockets are generally run by investments from big companies. As Americans have grown a great interest in F1 lately, Michael Andretti, in regard to this, has opened up about his investors as well.

When asked about his investors, Andretti

conveyed in an interview, “They want to do this and do it right and be competitive. They are not in it to just be in it. They are in sports already and they think Formula 1 is very attractive at the moment.”

Entry of another American Team in F1

F1 is mainly a European sport. Even though it has fan bases all over the world and the races take place worldwide. Despite being a global event, most of the teams have their bases in Europe. If ‘Andretti Global’ comes into the sport, they’ll be the second American team participating in F1 after Haas. Talking about this, Michael further stated, “

The popularity in the US [is] growing. The timing is perfect.”

F1, as a sport, has gained extreme popularity in the last few years. Thanks to Netflix’s

Drive to Survive series. Drive to Survive is already in its fourth installment and the craze involving the sport is ever increasing. Netflix, being an American company, has a huge audience in the United States.

A part of those audiences got their interest in the sport from the series. Moreover, the United States is to host two races in their country this year. Miami is to host its first Grand Prix which would be later followed by the Circuit of the Americans in the latter half of the season.
