Hamilton’s Ex-Mercedes Foe Rosberg Reveals His Take on Controversial Verstappen F1 Crash

The recent British Grand Prix was full of drama and controversy, as Lewis Hamilton took out Max Verstappen in the opening laps of the race. A good number of fans see the accident as intentional by Hamilton. However, the Brit’s former teammate, Nico Rosberg thinks it was a simple incident.

There is still a lot of tension boiling over the past weekend; as Red Bull clearly have stated that Hamilton is to be blamed. But, the 2016 world champion thinks that both Verstappen and Hamilton were just pushing each other to the limit, and eventually crashed.

Many suspect, that the 7-times world champion intentionally crashed into the Dutch driver, so that he could catch him in the title race. However, some such as Rosberg think it’s a simple accident and not some conspiracy.

Speaking to Express, Rosberg said, “It was a racing incident. I mean everybody is going to the limits, it’s normal when you’re fighting for a race win at the Silverstone Grand Prix. And you’re fighting for a championship and everything is so closely fought. And you know the importance of becoming out of the first lap first.”

“It makes a huge difference on the race results so, racing incidents and just everybody going to the limit,” the German concluded.

It is no surprise, that the Red Bull prodigy is enraged after Hamilton took him at Silverstone, which saw him have a 51G accident. Verstappen also called Hamilton’s celebration after winning, “unsportsmanlike”. Hence, this started a new chapter in their rivalry, and Rosberg can’t wait to find out what’s in store for the duo.

He said, “It leaves them in a great intense battle. I can’t wait to switch on the TV for the next installment. Because definitely has is ramped up the intensity.”

The next race on the calendar is the Hungarian Grand Prix.
