Traditionally, F1 drivers are typically working hard in training when a race is in store at the coming weekend. However, it appears Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were afforded a break from their hectic schedule. The two Red Bull drivers were seen having a lot of fun in an event sponsored by Esso, a UK-based fuel company.

Although the full video hasn’t been uploaded on Red Bull‘s social media pages, the short clips do give fans an indication of what went down. In one clip just after the event, a ‘red-colored’ Verstappen is seen getting out of a miniature Honda car, laughing his head off at Perez. The Mexican, likewise, is sitting in a similar car covered in blue powder.

A good guess appears to be that it was some sort of challenge between the two drivers, where perhaps the person who pops the most color-filled balloons wins.

While no one knows the results of the challenge, it definitely appears that Max had some good fun at the cost of Checo.

For fans, it would have been great to see the two hitting it off together. In the competitive environment of F1, teammate battles can take a turn for the worse real quick. So, it’s always good to have some time off where the duo can bond together. Perhaps that may bode well for the team’s success in the future.

Red Bull will need both their drivers to fire in Portimao

In the previous round, it was the Dutchman who came up trumps for the team by clinching a major victory. Perez, on the other hand, had a race to forget.

Nevertheless, he did display a lot of positives that could aid him in the coming race. And Red Bull would certainly want that.

In what is expected to be a nail-biting fight for the championship, it may well boil down to who among Perez or Valtteri Bottas can score more points.

The Mexican will want to bounce back in Portimao and put in a performance similar to what he did in the first race. However, he’d like to combine that race pace with the qualifying performance that almost got him a pole at Imola.

If Perez can be the ice to Verstappen‘s fire, Red Bull fans can certainly dream big.
