Romain Grosjean’s accident in 2020 will never be forgotten. The incident in Bahrain is one of the most horrifying F1 moments, in which the Haas driver’s car burst into flames after his collision with the barriers. This sent him to the hospital with burns on his hands. Following this, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff promised the Swiss-French driver a test session on the track with the Silver Arrows.

Although the decision to leave Haas was planned before the accident, he certainly did not receive a farewell in Formula 1. Both Mercedes and Grosjean have postponed the plan to drive the car several times because of unforeseen circumstances.

Speaking on this, in his YouTube video, he said, “We wanted to catch up on the test, but there were quarantine requirements that would have made everything very complicated. Then we had a date in September at Silverstone, but we couldn’t book the track.” (Translated using Google)

However, he revealed that a conversation with Wolff took place in the Miami GP. According to Grosjean, Mercedes will fulfill the promise once he finds time from his busy schedule in IndyCar.

“I Have a Helmet Ready” – Romain Grosjean Prepared to Take up Toto Wolff on His Mercedes F1 Offer

“I saw Toto at the Formula 1 race in Miami and he assured me that we would also carry out the test, and I have no doubt about that. Because Mercedes has contacted me several times about this, and as I said, it is my mistake that I have not yet found time to travel to Europe to complete the test. But I’m looking forward to it,” he added.

Grosjean was supposed to test the W-10 back in the 2021 French GP. However, as a result of the pandemic travel restrictions and his commitments with IndyCar, it ultimately did not happen. And this year, the IndyCar race in Iowa clashes with the French Grand Prix as well.

Toto Wolff has also assured him repeatedly, so it could only be a matter of time before the test happens. Grosjean, meanwhile, is competing in Indy with Andretti Autosport this year. He had an admirable return to racing with Dale Coyne Racing in 2021, where he finished with 272 points.
