The 2022 F1 season has been the best season for Sergio Perez by far. The Mexican driver has done better than his previous seasons and is sitting at the best possible position in the driver’s championship. However, there’s still a threat that remains, and that is Charles Leclerc.

The Ferrari driver has been the constant thorn in the way of Perez off late. Leclerc, who started the season off as the title contender against Max Verstappen, is now threatening Sergio Perez for P2. However, the Mexican driver is determined to keep the P2 to himself till the end of the season.

The Red Bull driver opened up about it recently. As per NOS, he stated, “There is still a lot for me to win in the coming races. I have to perform at my best, get as many points as possible here and crown the season in Abu Dhabi. Be the best season of my F1 career and next year I want to do even better.” [Translated using Google]

Citing the importance of Sprint, Perez further asserted, “Winning gives you eight points, but the result also determines the starting grid for the race. I can give a punch. Getting off to a good start in qualifying on Friday is crucial. Then I make it much less difficult for myself.”
