Lewis Hamilton has been on the back foot since the start of 2022. Even though the seven-time world champion managed to get himself into the podium place in Bahrain, he should thank his luck for the two Red Bull DNFs. Even the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso faced similar situations.

As for Vettel, the year has been a disaster so far. To call it a disaster, would be much of an understatement for the four-time world champion. Seb not only failed to start the first two races due to Covid-19 but also had back-to-back crashes on both qualification and race day in Australia.

Marko agrees with the fact that F1 has gone past the glory days of Lewis and Sebastian. However, he also believes that Lewis still has the spark in him.
On this, the Red Bull boss stated, “Hamilton still has a wealth of experience. You could see that a lot last year, especially when it came to how he was able to set great times with extremely worn tires. In the case of Sebastian, there is also the fact that he is certainly the most disadvantaged of all in terms of the car.”

As of now, Hamilton stands at P5 in the driver’s standings with 28 points, whereas Vettel is yet to pick up a point. It’ll be interesting to see if two of the F1’s all-time greats can make a turnaround from here and win something significant.
What made Helmut support Lewis Hamilton?
Charles Leclerc started his 2022 season on a high. After picking up two wins in three races in Bahrain and Australia, the Monegasque is on a roll. On the other hand, it’s needless to say that Max Verstappen has picked up the other win in Saudi Arabia. Whereas Lewis Hamilton is yet to win a race in the new season.

Regarding this, if the sport will experience a generation change this year, Helmut conveyed, “I guess so. With Verstappen, Leclerc, Norris, and Russell we now have four drivers who will shape the coming years.”

When the championship is considered, Charles leads the driver’s standings, followed by George Russell of Mercedes and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari. Lando has been a decent performer this year with his underperforming MCL36. All in all, the young guns are taking the sport by storm.
