We are no strangers to what happened between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris on the lap 64 of the Austrian GP. While many claim it was “hard racing”, others have divided themselves into Team Norris or Team Verstappen. While Lando’s Boss Andrea Stella claimed that the entire world knows it was the Dutchman’s fault, the Red Bull camp has fought back in the verbal war. The Red Bull team’s senior advisor, Helmut Marko, is the latest one to take a jab.

This week the F1 circus will be ‘performing’ at Silverstone a.k.a. the British Grand Prix. This is the same venue where Max suffered a 51 G accident because of hard racing Lewis Hamilton. However, this time around, Verstappen might have a bone to pick with a younger Britton in Norris. Helmut Marko justifying Max’s inherent nature of ruthless racing, pointed fingers at Lando as he recalled a couple of previous races.

Marko said, “Ultimately, the FIA found that Verstappen should take the blame for the collision. But you also have to consider what happened beforehand. People may forget that Norris is no stranger to sadness. I remember the start in Spain, where he pushed Max into the grass. There was neither an outcry nor sanctions at the time.”

He added, “At the same time, we could have told Max that an investigation was underway against Lando and that Norris would most likely receive a penalty, so Max should let his opponent go. But something like that doesn’t fit in with Max Verstappen’s DNA.” But if Lando’s emotions and words were to be believed, this DNA trait may cost Max his friendship with the Britton as the latter’s beliefs are polar opposite.

“It seems like a little bit desperate from his side”: Lando Norris calls out Max Verstappen after Austrian GP incident

Max has always maintained that Lando is his best friend on track and the two have often been spotted flying together and even partying with each other. But after last weekend’s showdown, Lando stated that if Max doesn’t apologize, then he will have no respect for the Dutchman. In furtherance of the unresolved tensions, Lando had something else to say.

Quizzed about his rival’s driving standards, Norris fumed: “There are rules for what you’re not allowed to do and are allowed to do, and he was doing things you’re not allowed to do and not getting penalized. I expect to tough battle against Max, I know what to expect, I expect aggression and pushing the limits and that kind of thing. But all three times, he’s doing stuff that can easily cause an incident. And in a way, it’s a bit reckless. It seems like a little bit desperate from his side.”
