It’s here, the Ferrari SF-24. Keeping up with the tradition, the 2024 challenger for the Italian team is drenched in beautiful red colors with a hint of white and yellow. In fact, the SF-24 is redder with the wheel covers and the rear and front wings featuring color instead of exposed carbon fiber. This is one major change in color scheme compared to the 2023 edition, despite some baseless fears of the Italian team following the grid’s current trend of keeping their cars bare black. However, stepping away from the color, in this piece, we would like to highlight the changes in the design department, and there are a few, similar to the firesuits.

Many fans have expressed their disappointment with the car’s design after the launch. The claim is the SF-24 looks similar or is a copy of the previous edition cars of the reigning world champions. Well, third year into the strict regulations that don’t let any room for creativity much to the disappointment of some, this was bound to happen. However, upon closer inspection, the SF-24 not only has changes compared to its 2023 edition but also features some components that are unique to the grid.

Right off the bat, the inlet right above the driver’s head is smaller in the SF-24 compared to other teams. The car’s side impact structure is also lower compared to 2023 and almost a part of the floor of the car now. The nose is flatter and wider, perhaps the widest in the current era and so are the inlets of the sidepods. There is also a massive undercut in the sidepods as well, making the all-import aspect of a modern-day F1 car the most meddled-with part in the SF-24.

However, the Halo is taking all the attention in the new Ferrari car. The Halo is not only wider out and almost flaring out but there are also signs of some fairing on the F1’s most important safety addition to an F1 car.

The different Halo design is unique, making the 2024 Challenger stand out compared to the rest of the grid. Hopefully, these subtle changes will make the SF-24 much more competitive and not give Carlos Sainz a headache like the SF-23.

Hopefully, the Ferrari SF-24 won’t give Carlos Sainz as many headaches as the previous edition

Carlos Sainz was the only driver to win a race apart from Red Bull in the precious season. He broke the Austrian team’s streak with a perfectly executed race in Singapore, which he admitted was his ‘smoothest operation in Ferrari‘.

This gave the fans the idea that the SF-23 suits the Spaniard, especially after the summer break with the sudden uptick in his performances. However, in the new year, Sainz made an honest admission about his feelings toward the SF-23.

When asked if he wanted the car to change, Carlos Sainz said, “A lot,” before continuing. “It has been said that it is a car that suits me well, that I like. Honestly, it has given not only me headaches. My partner, Ferrari, is very difficult to understand. I am not enjoying riding it. I have had to adapt to many things and I have had to try many set-ups. I hope that in 2024 it will be more versatile and easier to carry and tune up. May we have a better racing car?”
