The lack of diversity in Formula 1 has been an issue for some time now. Initially, a white man’s sport still remains along similar lines. In a sport where the doors are open to men and women competing as equals, equality seems shy in representation, even off-track. However, handling the situation in a glass-half-full manner, we can agree that some efforts are being made to change the status quo. Mercedes and their golden boy, Lewis Hamilton, are the latest to chime in to celebrate the underrepresented.

While the audience gathers to watch the on-track showdowns, a lot of effort goes into making that come alive. The Brackley-based outfit celebrated the diverse women who should be acknowledged for the part they play in bringing the spectacle to the track. Appreciating and shedding light on F1 car mechanics, Lewis Hamilton, on his Instagram Story, shared a post from his charitable organization’s account which highlighted, “In England, only 23% of Physics A-Level students are female. At Mission 44, we believe every young person, including girls and women, should have the opportunity to thrive and pursue careers in STEM.”

Furthermore, Mercedes, on their Instagram, posted a picture of women standing near their trophy case surrounding W11. The caption read, “Celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science. 🔬
Here’s to the women and girls who play a critical role in science and technology communities, and inspire current and future generations.🧪”
