Alex Albon joined the F1 grid in 2019 along with his best mate and fellow rookie, George Russell. Their friendships became exemplary in a world where no one thought drivers got along. Alex has often been witnessed saying that they share a close bond because of having grown together in the same racing circles. However, there was this one time when Lily Muni He, Albon’s girlfriend, found a strange ‘testament’ of their friendship at the Williams garage.

Lily is a familiar face in the paddock. The Chinese professional golfer is often seen walking down the pitlane hand in hand with her racer boyfriend. The two have been dating since 2019. And now with Alexandar being a driver for the historic blue team, Lily is often seen on the team’s social media accounts.

In a video from Alex Albon’s room from Williams’ garage, Muni He is seen sitting on a couch. She leaned in behind the couch to find a life-size photo of George Russell. Shocked and trying to make sense of the funny bromance, she let slip an “Oh my god”.

Aware of the love between the driver best friends she said, “Of course, he has this. I am not surprised. He’s got some explaining to do when he comes out.”

The duo’s friendship has stood the test of time. It has been a rollercoaster ride for them in terms of the ranking of teams they had been racing at. However, their lives at the track came a full circle when Albon bagged outgoing Russell’s seat at the Williams.

Albon and Russell having graduated from the feeder series to F1, even joined the grid together. While Albon was soon fast-tracked to a big team like Red Bull, replacing Pierre Gasly, he was now competing with the likes of Lewis Hamilton. Whereas Russell was still driving at the back of the grid with Williams. However, the dynamic soon changed when Albon didn’t find a place on the grid in 2021. Albon had to spend 2021 as a reserve driver for Red Bull after falling short of matching the performance put up by Max Verstappen.

Contrastingly, in 2021, it was announced that Russell will be driving for Mercedes in 2022. As fate held, Albon filled in for his outgoing friend. Since then, Albon has impressed in his Williams, finishing in points on three occasions. His laudable performance even earned him a multi-year contract from the historic team.
