However, there are people who are aware of the strict upbringing that Verstappen has faced at the hand of his father, Jos Verstappen. Jos always wanted to see his son become an F1 driver and achieve things he could not. Now Christian Horner has chimed in on the subject.

Horner compares Max Verstappen to Tyson Fury

While speaking to the sports section of the Evening Standard, Horner explained his understanding of Verstappen’s attitude. The Dutchman has often revealed the tough love he was treated with while growing up.

However, when Christian Horner said, “I see a lot of Tyson Fury’s killer instinct in Max. Max had a tough upbringing and he’s got that inner ‘just don’t give up’. It’s not anger, but that hunger, drive, self-confidence, and belief — and also he likes Tyson Fury.” the fans were quick to ridicule the team boss.

Being part of Formula 1 and continuing racing even after leaving the circus, Jos has always been well off. The strict uprising does not translate to a tough one. In fact, Verstappen was always been provided for, on account of his father, being a multi-millionaire. This is exactly why fans are quick to mock the Red Bull boss on Twitter.

Christian Horner faces backlash for his comments

There are hardly any drivers on the grid who have had a tough upbringing except one. A strict father does not equate to growing up poor or struggling financially. Horner was way off in his defense of Verstappen’s attitude and the fans did not appreciate that, not one bit.

Again, the fans pointed out the financial stability in Verstappen’s life while making scathing remarks about Horner.

The fans reacted negatively to Horner’s poor choice of words as he defends his driver in the media. It will be interesting to see if Horner comes back to defend his comments and clarifies the strict upbringing.
