Formula 1 is truly a global sport with races being held on six continents. There is massive interest from countries to hold an F1 race and bring this sport to their citizens. Recently, countries having more money have been able to attract the attention of the sport and successfully held races.
As a direct result of this, traditional circuits such as Hockenheim and Nurburgring have been left out from the F1 calendar year after year.
Previously, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali mentioned that there was no interest from German motorsports to hold a race. But heads of both Hockenheim and Nurburgring circuits have hit back at the F1 CEO.

“The fact that the Hockenheimring has an interest in Formula 1 taking place here is not new. We also all know the hurdles that exist for this,” said Teske.

“As long as there are so many countries willing to pay these sums for a Formula 1 race that cannot be refinanced at all, it will be difficult to play in this concert. It is clear that the whole thing cannot be put on the backs of the race tracks. We don’t have the strength for that and it’s not our job either,” said the Hockenheim MD.

The Nurburgring spokesperson Alexander Gerhard agreed with the Hockenheim MD and mentioned that they would very much like to hold races.
“We would be delighted to welcome Formula 1 to the Nurburgring. It has to be economically viable,” said Gerhard.

The last time F1 raced in Hockenheim was in 2019 and in Nurburgring was in 2020. It is a shame that both these iconic circuits are not able to hold races currently. Fans can only hope that the paddock returns to these two historically relevant circuits.
