At the beginning of his debut season with Red Bull, Perez claimed he needed five races to learn and understand the car, and he lived up to it. He stood on top of the podium at Azerbaijan, the sixth race of the season, clearing any and doubts people had about him.

Perez’s incredible last-to-first place victory with the Racing Point in Sakhir meant that he had Christian Horner‘s attention. With the team principal doubting his choice in Alex Albon, Sergio Perez promised an upgrade. And Horner was quick to sign the Mexican for the 2021 season.

After what seemed to be a warm-up of five races, Perez pulled through at Baku, and he has been unstoppable since then. It is almost as if he was made for the car, and offers a perfect fit with Verstappen. Horner teasing a contract deal only assures people that he, too, believes that Red Bull has finally found the perfect second driver.

Sergio Perez has finally found his team with RBR. His equation with Verstappen only promises the team more points and the audience exciting races, and it would be nothing but a positive feeling seeing the number 11 on a Red Bull car next year.
