It is safe to say that social media has baffled former F1 driver Martin Brundle. The British driver-turned-commentator cannot fathom how on-track rivals can get along so well on social media, particularly on Instagram.
Admittedly, drivers have frequented social media in order to give fans a new perspective of their lives. In fact, McLaren’s Lando Norris has taken social media by storm. He never fails to post videos and memes to entertain his followers. In addition to that some drivers often joke around and troll each other.
Apparently, Brundle was confused by this kind of behaviour. He could not make head or taail of the thought of drivers being rivals on track and joking around on “Instagram”.

When he spoke to Auto Motor und Sport in an interview, he said, “I don’t get it at all, today’s Instagram-driven world, joking with each other.”
“Best friends, how can that last? How can you be such an intense rival? We had friendships in the past but eventually that would be broken because you would end up fighting over the same corner at the same time.”

How does Martin Brundle view the 2020 F1 season
Moving on to another subject, he believes that the 2020 F1 season will be extremely exciting. The likes of Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc could take the fight to Lewis Hamilton to try and deny him a seventh World Championship.

Brundle hopes that it gives F1 a rivalry that was “denied” after Ayrton Senna was killed. The Briton confessed that he would like to see Verstappen and Leclerc challenging Hamilton and Vettel, though he lamented Fernando Alonso’s absence.
He even spoke about future talents like Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz and George Russell. Brundle noted that these drivers are not intimidated by a driver of Hamilton’s calibre.
