Lewis Hamilton has always emphasized the role of his parents in his career and his life. We have often noticed Hamilton mentioning how much his parents have sacrificed for him to have a successful racing career. Recently, to honor his mother for her part in his life, he announced that he will add her mother’s surname to his name.

Lewis had mentioned that he has been working on adding Larbalestier to his name alongside Hamilton. But now he has clarified that her mother’s surname would not be his surname, but will be added as a middle name.

As reported by The Mirror, he mentioned that he had kept it a secret from his mother that he would be adding her name. But he revealed that he let it slip at Christmas and ruined his own surprise.

“I spent Christmas with all of my immediate family. My mum, my step-mum, my dad, my two sisters, my brother. I already have my grandad’s name from my dad’s side in mine – Davidson – and I wanted my mum and grandad’s name,” said Lewis.

“It was going to be a surprise. I was going to tell her first, but I let it slip out. My mum was very happy, proud, and emotional. I have already applied. It won’t be a surname – it will be an addition to my middle name,” said Hamilton.

The name is yet to be added to his name will be a while before we would know him as Lewis Larbalestier Hamilton. It is a very sweet gesture from the Mercedes driver to honor his mother in this manner. Let’s see if he will get the name added before the end of the 2022 season.
