The Sebastian Vettel to Racing Point/Aston Martin rumor continues to steam on. With so much speculation going on in the last few days, you would bet your bottom dollar that there would be a series of questions addressed to Vettel and Racing Point Team Principal, Otmar Szafnauer.
Well, the interviewers didn’t disappoint. During Friday’s press conference, Szafnauer was bombed with the big question right from the get-go.
But the Racing Point Headman neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, in a classic professionally neutral style.

Szafnauer addresses talk about Sebastian Vettel, Sergio Perez, and the future
The first question that Szafnauer had to weave around was about who he would rather have dropped, to accommodate Vettel on the team.
He said, “They are both under contract (Perez and Stroll) and are happy with the job they are doing. It has a reason silly season… Bizarre that it has already started after two races, actually, but we are later in the year of course…But we are happy with our boys.”

Speaking of Checo Perez, Szanauer said, “He’s under contract, as I said. He ran two great races this year. Checo just needs to focus on his job, qualify well, and race well.” (as translated by google)

When asked about what Vettel would contribute if he were to move to Racing Point. He said, “He’s very competitive. I know him well, he’s a nice guy and he can be really fast. He’s a four-time champion, huh.”
Speaking about the future Szafnauer said, “The future is hard to predict. They just have to keep racing and doing their job well. It is of course never to break our plug-in contracts.”
These statements from the Racing Point boss come a day after Vettel admitted that he did have “loose talks” with the Silverstone-based outfit. However, he also revealed that he was in loose talks with another team as well.
