McLaren’s Lando Norris has had a brilliant start to the F1 season. The 20-year-old Briton bagged his maiden podium finish in the season opener and followed that up with a strong P5 finish at the Styrian Grand Prix.

Heading to Hungaroring, Norris stands at P3 on the Drivers’ Championship standings with 26 points to his name.

Despite his early-season success, there was a minor scare that young Norris suffered before the Styrian Grand Prix. After the first free practice session, the McLaren driver had complained of a major pain emanating from his chest.

However, he was treated for it and was cleared to compete in the race on Sunday. But no one quite knew what was ailing Lando, until yesterday.

On Thursday’s press conference for the Hungarian GP, Norris opened up on what the problem was and what caused it.

Answering the question, Norris first jokingly said, “It’s a broken heart. I got dumped.” He then went on to reveal the actual cause for his chest pain saying, “It was just bruising, from being out of the car for so long, basically.

“After we did the first weekend, obviously, having a few days off in between, it then hit my body a few days later. But it’s just a bruise and that was it.”

Thankfully, it was only a minor scare and fans got to see the talented young driver on Sunday as he put in another great performance. He started the race in P9 following a three-place grid penalty he received for failing to slow down after being yellow flagged.

Nevertheless, he didn’t let that setback deter him and put in a great race. He stepped up during the last couple of laps to overtake three drivers on his way to P5.

He’ll be hoping to build on the momentum and will be looking for another podium in Hungary.
