The dog-eat-dog nature of Formula 1 makes it a rare feat to see close relations between two drivers. Given that these are the top 20 drivers of the world with the same aim of being the best, it is no surprise. The 2016 rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg is a prime example of this.

After Rosberg retired, Mercedes introduced a fresh face to the team by hiring Valtteri Bottas. The Finn paired up with Lewis Hamilton to make the driver lineup at the German racing stable. The duo shared a great bond, which translated into astounding success for the team.

In the five years of being teammates (2017-2021), the two of them together won 5 Constructor’s Titles for the team. The Brit won four world titles, while the Finn became a 10-time Grand Prix winner. Notably, Hamilton acclaimed Bottas as his ‘Best teammate’ last year.

Today, they wear different race suits on track and are rivals racing one another. Nevertheless, the bond shared by them remains the same as when they wore the same uniform. The Briton showed this by appreciating Bottas in his recent social media post.

With a one-week gap before the next race, all drivers disconnect before going racing in France. The Alfa Romeo driver celebrated his time off in Monaco and posted a video featuring a bounce in his step.

The dance moves caught Hamilton’s attention, and he was quick to encourage his friend as he commented, “Never stop dancing mate.” Despite racing wheel to wheel this season, it is great to see the bromance continue between the two.

Throwback to Lewis Hamilton’s groove and flow

A Formula 1 driver needs to be on top of their game all year round. For this purpose, they have a strict training routine and diet while following many more measures which keep them in tip-top condition. As important as following the routine is for them, it is also important to disconnect once in a while.

Fans often underestimate the mental toll it takes on a driver to deliver elite performances week in and week out. A break gives them a pause and helps them reset to go deliver peak performance once again. Lewis Hamilton is arguably one of the fittest drivers on the grid, who is highly vocal about mental health.
