Every driver must keep themselves first, such is the nature of F1 as a sport. This is exactly why it’s difficult for teammates to maintain a friendship. However, when two drivers do much like Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda, it’s almost heartbreaking to see them part ways. It’s a great friendship too. Figuratively speaking, anyone can smell that from miles away.

However, in literal terms, Yuki Tsunoda can sniff out his partner in crime, Pierre Gasly, from a crowd as well. The AlphaTauri pilots proved this statement ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix.

In Mexico, in an attempt to prank Tsunoda, two men of similar physical attributes stood next to Tsunoda. Among the two men, dressed in identical clothing with helmets, one was Pierre Gasly and the other was an imposter. However, The Japanese driver sniffed out his teammate’s prank and caught him red-handed with the most bizarre explanation.

Not just the prank, Tsunoda sniffed out his teammate as well. During the prank, standing between the two men, Tsunoda pointed to his left, and said, “Ah, this is Pierre. I can smell it!”

The assessment was correct, but it’s the reasoning behind Tsunoda’s guesswork that is astonishing. How close are these two that one can literally sniff out the other?
