After winning the Monaco Grand Prix, Sergio Perez looked to be in a celebratory mood. Partying the night away, the Mexican enjoyed the feeling of winning at a historic circuit. However, all has not been smooth sailing for the Red Bull driver. Post Monaco, there have been allegations that he cheated on his wife, Carola Martinez, during the celebrations. Posting a statement on his Instagram Story, Perez has cleared the air surrounding the controversy.

Sergio Perez addresses rumors about the controversial Monaco video

Right after the festivities on Sunday, there seemed to be videos of Sergio Perez circulating on the internet, where he seems to be hugging a woman who is not his wife. In another video, it was shot in a nightclub in Monaco where Checo can be seen with a woman in close proximity. However, Sergio has now responded to these allegations and explained them in Spanish.

He started by saying, “I have seen the videos that have been circulating about me, and I take responsibility for them.”

“The people close to me know my values and the type of person I am. For those who are asking, nobody is more united than my wife and I. And for those who only want to hurt us, I wish you the best.”

“Thank you all for you love and support and I apologise to all those people who love me because those videos absolutely do not represent me.”

Perez extends his Red Bull Contract till 2024 after Monaco

In Monaco, Sergio Perez had passed fellow compatriot, Pedro Rodríguez, on being the most successful Mexican driver in Formula 1. Holding off Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz till the end, Perez did not falter even once in his defense.

After taking a well-deserved win, it was announced that the Mexican was to stay with the Milton Keynes-based outfit until the end of 2024. Claiming that he is more at home now than in 2021, he was happy to be part of Red Bull. He saidWe have built tremendous momentum as a team and this season is showing that, I am excited to see where that can take us all in the future.”
