After a difficult 2020 season, Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto faced a lot of criticism for the Maranello team’s unfortunate downfall. the Italian took over the team from Maurizio Arrivabene in 2019 as Ferrari saw their worst season since 1980 in Binotto’s second year at the Red team.

After the dramatic decline in performance, Binotto admitted he is aware of his finite time in Ferrari. He also stated that he is currently working hard towards ensuring the Maranello team’s revival in the coming seasons by focusing on stability.

He said, “There are no changes in our plans, no changes in what is our future. I know that my time is not infinite, certainly. I am pretty aware of the fact that, as a team, we need to do well, and myself as well as principal to do well, in the next seasons.”

Binotto admits Ferrari was below par in 2020

The Maranello outfit ended the season at the bottom of the midfield. Their rivals comfortably beat them, and midfield teams overtook them in the standings. Binotto accepted that their performance was not up to the standard last season.

He said, “Overall, it was a very intense, dense season, difficult for many aspects, where our performance was inadequate. Finishing sixth in the constructors’ is very bad as since 1980 that had not happened. But it’s a season where I think we invested a lot in the future.”

The 2020 season was a tough pill to swallow for everyone involved with Ferrari. The team is now focusing on creating a solid foundation going ahead. The Maranello team will use the platform to launch their comeback in the upcoming seasons.
