The incident of Romain Grosjean at the Bahrain International Circuit was a sight of shock for everyone watching the race last Sunday. However, there was a sense of joy and relief when Grosjean walked out of the car. The circuit staff escorted him to the nearby hospital after medical personnel had intervened at the crash site.

Following some treatment, the hospital discharged Grosjean on Wednesday. His body is still feeling the sore effects from the crash, and naturally, will need some days of rest to recover.

It is still unknown whether the 34-year-old would become fit to drive in next weekend’s Abu Dhabi GP. He has said that if his left hand does not work next week, then he will not take a risk of driving in the race.

Romain Grosjean reveals his entire left side was hit

Grosjean is quoted by Autosport as saying, “If my left hand doesn’t work next week and I’m not able to do everything I have to do with it, I won’t take a risk and drive. But I’m trying to rest as much as I can and follow the doctors’ recommendations so that it heals.”

The impact collision was so hard that the Frenchman has now revealed he is facing effects on his entire left side. This also includes side effects on his thumb’s ligament following the incident.

Haas No.8 and said, “First, it needs to become less swollen, because it’s very swollen at the moment. There may have been an impact on the thumb’s ligament during the crash.

“My whole left side was hit. My left ankle is sprained, my left knee was hit, and I’ve got nice bruises on my left shoulder, my left buttock and my left forearm.

“The only real question is my left hand. I’ve got another few years to live with it, I must not mess it up!” said Grosjean.

Pietro Fittipaldi will replace Grosjean for the Sakhir GP race weekend

Possibly following an update on Romain’s condition, Haas decided to hand over driver duties to reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi. The 24-year-old Brazilian will take over Romain’s car for the Sakhir GP weekend, at the very least.

Haas might require his services once again, should Grosjean not recover in time for the race. However, one would imagine that Grosjean would target to become fit and deliver what could possibly be his last hurrah on the F1 track.
