After 30 Formula 1 races, George Russell is yet to open his points account. The young driver from Williams completed his 30th race in the Tuscan Grand Prix. Finishing 11th, Russell failed to bag a point and was seemingly disheartened.

The Tuscan Grand Prix was marred with incidents. A series of crashes, followed by the deployment of the Safety Car twice, made the race lengthy and changed the pattern of the finish. Russell put up a brilliant display to storm into the Top-10 with ease. However, a late-race slip up cost him a finish in the points.

“My heart is broken,” groaned the young racer. “The whole team had worked so hard to bring us forward, and I was able to hold onto ninth place so well that I really thought – this time it will work.

“The car felt great. Sebastian and Charles behind me couldn’t go any faster on the same tires. Then the interruption because of the Stroll accident ruined everything. “

George Russell admits on faltering on the race restart. Due to the crash, Mugello saw the Safety Car being deployed for the second time. When the race resumed, Russell failed to keep up with the momentum and as a result, lost his position to finish 11th.

“I don’t know why I got off so badly at the third start. I didn’t do anything differently than usual. Maybe it was because the tires weren’t ideally warmed up. I am bitterly disappointed because we would have earned points.”
