Torrential rains in Singapore last weekend made for a less-than-thrilling weekend. A similar narrative played out at Suzuka on Sunday, with Carlos Sainz the first victim of the rivers of rain on the track.

Carlos Sainz had an amazing qualifying the day before. He finished at P3, behind leader Max Verstappen and teammate Charles Leclerc. Sainz would have aimed for a podium finish at the least.
Unfortunately for Sainz, his race wasn’t long. The Spaniard had to retire to the paddock early as his race ended in the first lap when he spun out on the inundated tracks of Suzuka and crashed into the walls.

The Ferrari man lost control on the Spoon curve and suffered a heavy crash into the barriers. To make matters worse, Sainz had no control as he spun. He was like a sitting duck and could have been crashed into the 17 other cars trailing him at the time.
Luckily, no such incident occurred, and the Spaniard climbed out of his car uninjured. Unhappy, but uninjured.
Fans are grateful that Carlos Sainz is safe after his spin-off
Fans were very grateful for Carlos, as he did not receive further blows from other cars.
Speaking about the incident, Sainz said, “The real problem came when I stopped in the middle of the track and the other cars were coming. I knew they couldn’t see me. I was in God’s hands.”

While Sainz was unlucky to have been out so soon, Charles Leclerc did manage to bring in some good points for the team after eventually finishing P3.
