After the disappointing DNF in the Spanish GP, Charles Leclerc lost his lead in the championship run. But the Monegasque is seeking redemption at his home Grand Prix. Further, it is too early for the Monegasque prodigy to give up cause it would also be not fair to the people who supported him to become an F1 driver.

Undoubtedly, Leclerc is one of the best young talents in the sport, who is now a contender to lift the 2022 championship title. However, the 24-year-old didn’t come so far in his career alone. He has people behind him who supported the young Monegasque’s dream of becoming an F1 driver.

One of such essential people in Charles’s life is his godfather, Jules Bianchi, a former French F1 driver who died due to a devastating 2014 Japanese GP crash. Leclerc nearly gave up on his F1 dream because of his family’s financial condition. But Bianchi introduced young Leclerc to Nichols Todt, who sponsored him he become an F1 driver.

Even today, the 24-year-old is thankful to Bianchi for his support when Leclerc was young. The Ferrari driver said, “So without Jules, I would be nowhere. He also taught me so many things when I was younger that allowed me to take my first steps in car racing and have been fundamental for my career and for me as a person. Jules will forever be with me.”

The Monegasque needs to keep a calm mind, as the championship fight would intensify with each race. But it seems Charles’s father already taught him about staying calm. His father, Hervé Leclerc, was a Formula 3 driver who lost his life in 2017, shortly before Charles signed his first F1 contract.

Leclerc shared his father’s lesson, “When I started winning in karting when I was seven years old, naturally, you think you are the best, but he was telling me ‘Calm down, Charles.’ He was always telling me to stay humble. It was the first thing he ever taught me when I was winning, which has been very useful ever since.”
