Geri Halliwell, or as we know her, Ginger Spice is a prominent face of the Formula 1 paddock. Her husband, Christian Horner, is the maverick mastermind behind Red Bull’s success in the sport. However, as iconic as Horner has been, Geri has had her fair share of iconic moments too.

At the 1997 Brit Awards, Halliwell wore the iconic Union Jack dress. Geri Halliwell has now relayed the story behind how one of the most recognized brands and restaurants bid in an auction to buy the dress. What’s more? They paid a whopping $47k for it, too.

She said, “There was a secret bidder on the telephone.”

She revealed, “It turned out to be the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas.” Geri Halliwell then went on to beam about how the bid was in fact an actual world record. She said, “They paid 41,000 pounds (or $46,640) which turned out to be a world record for a piece of pop memorabilia.”

Halliwell is happily married to Red Bull boss Christian Horner. And, according to her husband, she probably has one more record, at least in the Horner household, which she wouldn’t be as proud about.

Netflix’s Drive to Survive has made F1’s reach genuinely global. However, arguably no one has stood out more than Red Bull team principal Christian Horner in the show. Horner is portrayed as a cut-throat competitor who has a habit of using some colorful language now and again.

According to the man himself, he has his wife to thank for this. Hinting toward his family swear jar, Horner quipped, “My wife is contributing more to the jar than I am!”. He explained, “The problem for me is sometimes I’m not aware the cameras are there, but it’s made me realize I do swear quite a lot.”
