“If Checo Doesn’t Like It Then…” Red Bull’s Sergio Perez Given a Harsh Reality Check Amid Max Verstappen Snub

All throughout last year and even this year until the Brazilian Grand Prix, Red Bull seemed like one happy family with Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen. That being said, now that the ‘favorite’ driver has snubbed the other in front of the whole world, cracks have started to appear that threaten the very core of what made Red Bull win these past few years.

At the Brazilian Grand Prix, Verstappen, who had damage to his car, was asked to let Perez by. However, Verstappen defiantly did not comply. This compromised Checo’s battle for P2 in the Driver’s Championship with Charles Leclerc. Now, ex-Red Bull hero David Coulthard has weighed in on the whole debacle.

As per Mirror Sport, Coulthard said, “If Checo doesn’t like it, then he can leave the team but where is he going?” After he dropped this bitter truth bomb for Perez to acknowledge, he went on to explain what he felt that the whole event boiled down to.

“So, for me, it’s just another one of those sporting decisions.”

This whole incident isn’t pleasant in the least for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit. That being said, there is a surprise benefactor to the whole fiasco.

Even though in the media it would appear that the pair of Perez and Verstappen have made their peace, we do not know if that is the case. Now, according to Ralf Schumacher, this falling out between the two teammates could spell happy news for free agent Daniel Ricciardo.

While talking to Motorsport-Total, the ex-F1 driver suggested that Verstappen was working on pushing the Mexican out of the team. And it is Daniel Ricciardo who is Verstappen’s ‘chosen one‘. He said, “I think Ricciardo has a good chance. It must be behind the scenes very, very aggressive and I think Max wants a new combination.”
