Scuderia Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel recently opened up on his future plans in the sport. The German also talked about what motivates a few drivers in the F1 and his personal goal with the team.

Vettel’s contract with Ferrari expires at the end of 2020. However, no announcement has been made by either side regarding future plans or developments.

Ferrari did confirm that Sebastian Vettel was a priority for the vacant seat but haven’t made any announcements. Vettel has also remained silent on the issue and hasn’t shown signs of inclination towards resigning with the team.

2020 will be Vettel’s sixth season with the Italian team. The German joined Ferrari with the hopes of emulating his childhood hero – Michael Schumacher. Unfortunately, things haven’t quite panned out as expected for the 4 times World Champion.

With Ferrari inching towards Leclerc, Vettel has his work cut out to prove to Ferrari that he’s still as fast as he was in his Red Bull days. The German has acknowledged the possibility of retirement on multiple occasions. At 32 years old and with three little children, Vettel’s priorities would have surely shifted.

The German acknowledged this a recent interview and revealed that racing wasn’t everything in life.

With a handsome salary that quite easily breaches the ‘millions’ mark, money certainly isn’t an issue for Sebastian Vettel. The German revealed that his goal with Ferrari remained unchanged. Vettel’s ultimate desire remains winning a World Championship while donning the red suit.

Speaking to motorsport.com, Vettel said:

“I don’t want to point the finger at anyone, but: if it’s money that motivates you, then fight for that, there are many sports and business-driven by earnings.

“Well, my goal is always the same, because we haven’t achieved it yet. Mercedes has beaten us in recent years, so the aim always remains the same. We have had many races, I think there have been great moments as well as less good moments, but as I said the goal remains the same, it’s still there, my goal is to win with Ferrari”

With the clock ticking and Tifosi’s patience wearing thin, will Ferrari help Vettel achieve his dream?
