Alpine will soon launch their 2022 livery for their fans to see. It is a critical season for the French outfit as they hope to make a bid for the world championship this season. He claimed that if the engine is fast, then they can challenge for the title even if it’s not reliable. He mentioned they are approaching this season differently on their engine side to make further gains on the track.

As reported by Marca, according to their El plan, the team should be challenging for the championship this season. Rossi too emphasized the importance of the 2022 season ahead of the livery launch.

“This season is a game-changer for us. I hope we can close the gap to the faster teams. The approach in the past was to prefer having to turn off the engine when we had reached the peak, rather than having a more reliable but slower engine,” said Rossi.

“We’re doing it differently now. We’ve already done thousands of kilometers in the test area with this new engine in recent weeks. The center of gravity has changed, the engine is lighter and can work well in a wide range of conditions,” said the Alpine director.

The team has to be careful not to focus too much on the engine just being fast. During their partnership with the Red Bull Racing team, there were many complaints about the reliability of their engines. The French team just needs to have a sweet spot in getting maximum performance and reliability from their engines.
