Is Flavio Briatore Teasing a Re-Union With Fernando Alonso at Alpine F1?

Recently, Alpine has been changing its management hierarchy. The Enstone-based team parted ways with Executive Director, Marcin Budkowski and their advisor, Alain Prost. Additionally, Flavio Briatore who was the boss of the French team when they were known as Renault has taken with Fernando Alonso.
The Formula One community is speculating whether or not this hints at his return to the pinnacle of motorsports.
Is Flavio Briatore returning to Alpine after meeting Fernando Alonso?

Back in 2008, Briatore resigned as team principal of Renault following the events of the Crashgate scandal at the Singapore Grand Prix. Now in 2022, he met with Alonso, and the F1 community is speculating whether this marks his return to the team. The reshuffling of the management within the Enstone-based team also hints at a possible return.

Apart from him, Otmar Szafnauer has also been heavily linked to joining Alpine, following his departure from Aston Martin earlier this year.

Who will be driving for Alpine in 2022?
At the start of the season, the Enstone-based squad signed 2-time world champion, Alonso. The Spanish driver would go on to partner with Esteban Ocon. The duo would go on to bag 155 points which resulted in them finishing fifth in the constructors’ standings.

The two races that stood for Alpine were the Hungarian Grand Prix, where Ocon took his first F1 win, and the Qatar Grand Prix, where Alonso crossed the line to take P3.
It seems like the French team has faith in their driver lineup and will stick to them for the forthcoming season. Additionally, Ocon has a contract that expires at the of the 2024 season. While Alonso’s deal expires at the end of 2022.
